Aleksandar Mastilović

Aleksandar Mastilovic is a widely recognized international expert in Telecommunications with interdisciplinary experience in the implementation of 5G, Telco Market Analysis, Smart Cities, Digital Transformation in Public Administration and SMEs, focused on bridging the gap between (academic) innovations and the market, converting patents and scientific achievements to entrepreneurial actions, in business, academia, and the government sector.  

He currently works as a consultant for various international institutions with United Nations agencies such as the United Nations Development Program - UNDP and the International Telecommunications Union - ITU, the German International Economic Cooperation – GIZ, USAID, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer – IEEE, G20 Economic Alliance, World Business Angles Forum - WBAF. 

During that period, in 2015, as the EU Marie Curie Fellow, Mr. Mastilovic received an award from the IEEE Communications Society Global Top 30 Award for Doctoral students in Telecommunications. In addition, he was appointed as the visiting researcher to several recognized universities, such as Rutgers University in New Brunswick, USA, the University of Sydney, and La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, representing the European research community worldwide. 

The London-based business analytics company Onalytica recognized him as one of the Top 10 Global Influences on Smart Cities in 2022. 

  • the author of 9 recognized scientific papers at international conferences and  

  • co-author of a book on cybersecurity of industrial IoT systems published by IGI Global (USA) 

  • TEDx speaker on Smart Cities 

  • co-founder of the first and largest regional Smart City event in the Western Balkans: Smart Cities Festival 

  • policy maker enabling 4G deployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and establishing a Roaming-Like-At-Home framework in the Western Balkans
